About the Role
Are you a passionate and enthusiastic Science Teacher looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school, where you'll inspire students to develop their scientific knowledge, curiosity, and confidence across the Science curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, practical, and inclusive Science lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
- Teach Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, preparing students for GCSE examinations where applicable.
- Deliver lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, adapting content to meet the needs of different learners.
- Create a safe, stimulating, and well-managed classroom and laboratory environment that encourages curiosity, investigation, and independent learning.
- Plan and deliver practical experiments safely, following appropriate laboratory health and safety procedures.
- Assess, monitor, and record students' progress, using assessment data to inform planning and provide targeted support.
- Differentiate lessons effectively to meet the needs of students of all abilities, including those with SEND and additional learning needs.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and promote a positive learning environment where students feel confident to participate and ask questions.
- Support students in developing their scientific understanding, analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, parents, and the wider school community to promote student achievement and wellbeing.
- Participate in departmental planning, meetings, assessments, and wider school activities where required.
- Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
- Strong subject knowledge across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Experience teaching Science at Key Stage 3 and/or Key Stage 4.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- A passion for inspiring students through engaging and practical Science lessons.
- Ability to differentiate lessons and support students of varying abilities and needs.
- A commitment to raising attainment and helping students achieve their full potential.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
