Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for an experienced and committed Pastoral Lead to join a school in Dorchester.
This is an important role for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people's wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and personal development. The successful candidate will work closely with students, teaching staff, families and the wider pastoral team to provide consistent and effective support.
You will be responsible for developing positive relationships with students and helping remove barriers that may prevent them from fully engaging with school.
Provide day-to-day pastoral support to students
Monitor and respond to attendance concerns
Support students experiencing barriers to learning
Monitor behaviour and implement appropriate interventions
Build strong, trusting relationships with students
Work closely with teachers and support staff
Communicate effectively with parents and carers
Support students with social, emotional and behavioural needs
Monitor individual student progress and wellbeing
Organise and deliver targeted pastoral interventions
Support students in developing positive attitudes towards education
Help identify safeguarding and welfare concerns and follow appropriate school procedures
Maintain accurate records and documentation
Contribute to meetings involving students, families and relevant professionals
Promote positive behaviour and high expectations across the school
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous experience in a pastoral, safeguarding, behaviour or student-support role
Experience working with young people within an education or similar setting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational and administrative skills
The ability to build positive relationships with students
A calm, consistent and professional approach
Confidence dealing with challenging situations
The ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents and external professionals
A strong understanding of the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality
A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people
This position would suit an experienced Pastoral Lead, Pastoral Manager, Behaviour Mentor, Head of Year or similar education professional.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
